Membership

The YMCA is for everyone—it strengthens families, nurtures the healthy development of children, and encourages positive behavior in teens.

The Licking County Family YMCA is an association of caring people working for the common good. YMCAs are affordable, accessible, and led by volunteers who give their time to improve their communities. Ys are dedicated to building values based on Christian principles, and view all people as children of God and worthy of respect.

Unlike health clubs, Ys are family-friendly and open to everyone, with financial assistance available for those who cannot pay full fees. Best known for our community-based health and fitness programs, Ys teach kids to swim, run youth basketball leagues, lead adult aerobics, and offer exercise classes for people with disabilities. We also offer hundreds of other programs to meet community needs, from teen nights to day camp to senior groups. At the Y, you belong—you are part of a family.

The Licking County Family YMCA offers two basic memberships:

  • Associate Membership - allows members access to specific programs, but does not allow the use of the general facility (health & fitness center, pool, racquetball courts, gymnasiums, field house, or walking track)

  • Full Membership - allows for complete and full access to all parts of the facility including all three pools, walking track, free aerobics classes, health & fitness center, racquetball courts, both gymnasiums, field house)

Financial Assistance

It shall be the policy of the Licking County Family YMCA to provide financial aid to individuals and families for the purpose of providing life-enriching opportunities to persons who otherwise could not afford YMCA membership fees.

The Licking County Family YMCA is a non-profit association offering opportunities for personal growth and service to others.  We are dedicated to serving the community.  Our mission is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.  We believe in providing programs and membership to anyone who desires participation.

Through the YMCA’s financial assistance program, help is available for those in need. To support our assisted members, we ask people to complete a private, confidential application for financial assistance.

Financial assistance is available to persons needing help with membership and program fees.  Applications are available at the Member Services desk.  All applications must provide proof of income for consideration.  All information is kept strictly confidential.

Who is eligible for YMCA Financial Assistance?

An active older adult on a fixed income, a single parent who is trying to make ends meet, a  family in   transition, someone who needs a little help for a while - all of these are the faces of the YMCA Financial Assistance Program.

How is the Financial Assistance amount determined?

The amount of assistance is based on the annual gross income and the number of dependents. We offer a sliding fee scale after completion of a confidential application.

Is it possible to join the YMCA for free?

The YMCA believes a strong sense of ownership and pride is developed if the assistance recipient has contributed to the cost of their YMCA involvement. Therefore, applicants will be asked to pay a portion of the fee.

How soon is the amount determined?

Completed applications will be reviewed within 10 to 15 working days. Please submit your   completed  application along with proof of income, including an income tax form and the most recent pay check stubs or government assistance verification.

Will I be treated differently? Will other members know that I am on financial assistance?

Only you and the membership representative will have access to your application. We track assistance data, but only in terms of numbers and statistics, not by names.

Can I do anything in return for this assistance?

Yes you can! The YMCA is a volunteer based organization. Youth and adults are encouraged to help earn assistance by volunteering.

Is assistance available for all programs offered by the Y?

Assistance is available for memberships and programs. Please see the membership representative for details on specific programs.

Stop by the member services desk for complete details or download the financial assistance application from the home page of this web site.

Payment Methods

Monthly Bank Draft Payment Plan

Our bank draft payment plan is an easy and economical way to join the YMCA on an uninterrupted basis.  All you have to do is complete the membership application, provide a voided or cancelled check, pay the joiners fee* and the pro-rated first month's payment, and never worry about your membership expiring again.   Your monthly payment is automatically deducted from your checking/savings/credit card (Mastercard or VISA) account.   A 30 day written notice is required to cancel your membership.  Contact the member services desk for more information.  There is a $1 monthly fee for this bank draft service

* Joiners fees are utilized to purchase new equipment and to renovate the facility.  All new members are subject to paying a joiner's fee when joining the YMCA.  This is a one-time fee unless the membership is discontinued for more than 30 days.

Annual Payment Plan

This one-time annual payment is a $12 savings off the monthly payment. An annual membership is effective for one year from the joining date. Annual members receive a notice one month prior to the renewal date. Annual memberships are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Membership Cards

The Licking County Family YMCA is a membership organization. Membership cards are issued as proof of membership. Upon joining the YMCA, a membership card will be issued for each member of your family.

For admittance, members must bring their cards with them, and scan them at the member services desk in any facility, at every visit.

With your help, enforcement of this policy will permit faster check-in, provide a safer YMCA and allow the staff to monitor usage. Monitoring peak and total usage will provide vital information to help us plan future needs.

Remember, if you do not have your card, you will need to present another form of ID. This will take time causing a delay in your entry as well as those waiting.

Cost to replace a card is $5.00 payable at the front desk. Cards are the property of the YMCA and are not transferable.

Associate Member Cards

Associate Adult members will be issued a membership card upon joining.  These cards are only good for times that associate programs are available. Associate members must bring their cards with them, and scan them at the member services desk in any facility, at every visit. Cards are the property of the YMCA and are not transferable.

Associate youth members will be given a program card upon registration for YMCA programs.  Associate members must bring their cards with them, and show them at the member services desk in any facility, at every visit. Cards are the property of the YMCA and are not transferable.
